Since its inception in 2004, Peace and Conflict Studies course focuses on the concept of “building peace and preventing conflict” from a perspective that supplements the Western context while fostering professionals with expertise on topics related to peace and conflict, development, and other areas of international and global affairs. Students earn a Master’s degree in International Studies upon completing the course of study and Master thesis. The course is designed for students from diverse backgrounds, thus the language of instruction is English and provides opportunities for everyone to gain valuable experience in cross-cultural contact, understanding, and collaboration. PCS strives to expand the expertise of existing Peace and conflict professionals, as well as provide a comprehensive foundation of understanding to those who wish to enter into the field. PCS graduates are active in more than 50 countries worldwide while maintaining close contact with TUFS, providing a strong professional network of support.

We are also happy to announce that “PCS Course to Foster Professionals for Post-conflict peacebuilding” has been accepted as the International Priority Graduate Program (PGP) under the Japanese Government (MEXT) scholarship. There is a preferential allocation of the scholarship for those entering our program and are also eligible for the scholarship from October 2020 (four students per year for the next three years)
