Program Overview:

The Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research launched in April 2019 is an integrated program jointly offered by the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), the University of Electro-Communications (UEC), and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS). Its aim is to develop human resources for those who can make a substantial contribution to international peace and development, including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and address global issues such as environmental degradation, energy conservation, poverty alleviation, and international conflict. The language of instruction is English, and through the three years, students will attend lectures, seminars, and laboratories and participate in internships to gain practical experiences. Students will benefit from the specific strength each university represent, such as; Language and regional studies with a Global Perspective at TUFS, Big Data, and ICT at UEC, and Food, Energy, and Life Science at TUAT. Through communicating with the faculty of different fields, students will also develop effective communication skills.
